1. Data We Collect

a) Account Information
Email address and username.
Authentication data from Apple or Google when using third-party sign-in.
b) Profile Information
Biography, date of birth, gender, profile photos.
Favorite movie genres, spoken languages.
c) Location Data
City name, latitude, and longitude (collected only with your permission).
Location is displayed on your profile and used to find nearby users.
Location permission is optional and can be disabled from your device settings at any time.
d) Movie Interaction Data
Liked, disliked, and super-liked movies.
Watchlist, movie reviews, and ratings.
e) Social Interaction Data
Match information, chat messages.
Sent and received gifts, movie recommendations, shared watchlists.
f) Game and Progress Data
Quiz scores, XP and level, achievements, daily login streaks.
g) Device and Technical Information
Push notification token, device platform (iOS/Android), and language preference.
App usage statistics.

2. How We Use Your Data

To create, manage, and secure your account.
To recommend content based on your movie preferences.
To match you with users who have similar taste in movies.
To operate the quiz game and leaderboard.
To send push notifications.
To manage premium subscription services.
To improve and troubleshoot the app.

3. Third-Party Services

We share limited data with the following services:
Cloud database and authentication provider.
TMDB (The Movie Database) API: Movie information and images (no personal data shared).
Subscription and purchase management service.
Notification delivery service.
Apple/Google Sign-In: Authentication providers.
This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.

4. Device Permissions

Camera: To take profile photos (optional).
Photo Library: To select profile photos (optional).
Location: To display your city and find nearby users (optional).
Notifications: To receive match, message, and reminder alerts (optional).
Haptics: For tactile feedback.
All permissions are optional and can be managed from your device settings.

5. Data Storage and Security

All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS/SSL).
Payment information is not stored by us; it is processed by Apple App Store and Google Play.
Your data is retained as long as your account is active.
Upon account deletion, all your data is permanently removed within 30 days.
Virtual Credit Purchases
Your credit purchase transactions are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. FilmMatch does not directly collect or store your payment information (credit card numbers, etc.). Only purchase confirmation details and your credit balance are stored within the app.

6. Your Rights (GDPR)

You have the following rights:
Right to access your data.

7. Age Restriction

FilmMatch is not intended for persons under the age of 18. Use of the app by anyone under 18 is prohibited.

8. Local Storage

The app stores session and preference data locally on your device (AsyncStorage). This data is not shared with third parties.

9. International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed in countries other than your own through our service providers' servers. In such cases, your data remains protected under applicable data protection laws.

10. Policy Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy. Significant changes will be communicated via in-app notifications.

11. Regional Provisions

a) European Union / European Economic Area (EU/EEA) Users
If you reside in the EU/EEA, you have the following additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

If you reside in China, you are protected under the Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL):
Your data is processed on servers outside of China. By using the app, you consent to this transfer.
You have the right to access, correct, and delete your personal information.
Sensitive personal information (location, profile photos) is collected only with your explicit consent.
g) Other Regions
Regardless of where you live, the rights outlined in this policy apply to you. If your local laws provide additional rights, those rights continue to apply.
